I have been a collector of military items since the age of 8, when I used to play army with my childhood friends using a model 1928 fieldpack, a 1944 dated pistol belt and a 1945 .45 caliber auto pistol holster, all of which I had purchased from a local army-navy surplus store for the great sum of $7.95 total. As the 40+ years rolled by, a couple of airplane rides later and the help of a lot of dealers at gun and military shows, my collection increased in size, accumulating a fair number of items in two, three or more numbers along the way with a particular interest on the world of aviation.
As fate would have it, in 1993 a family member suffered some major health problems which resulted in long term care and a lot of money. As a way of helping out with some of the finances, I started selling off the extra items in my collection to other dealers and collectors (many of which I had bought the item from many years before). As result of this action, I soon found myself buying and selling items on a regular basis with the returns going to help out family members where I could. As they say, the rest is history and Wings and Things Military Collectibles was formed as a business shortly thereafter with the help of a lot of nice folks to whom I am deeply grateful.
It is a business which has been expanding in size ever since the days of selling a few military items at the Military Vehicles Show at Fort Indian Town Gap, Pennsylvania equipped with a folding card table and Chevy S-10 Blazer to my present day inventory of thousands of general military and aviation items, with Internet services, mail orders and a fairly heavy military show and air show schedule around the eastern United States.
